In Loving Memory of Sitiveni “Papa” Naqica
The Denver Barbarians, and much of US Rugby, lost a family member recently. Sitiveni “Papa” Naqica passed on Christmas Day 2011.
In loving Memory of Sitiveni “Papa” Naqica.
August 13th, 1951 – December 25, 2011
It was not long after the Naqica family arrived in Denver that Sitiveni “Papa” Naqica became a standard on the sidelines of Denver Barbarian Rugby. Papa, the father of Jone and Brian Naqica, was always there to lend a hand to support the game he loved. He was there helping with whatever was needed to help the Barbos or whatever team he was cheering. His infectious smile was an ever-present part of the Barbarian Family and will be sorely missed. “Papa” is survived by his wife of 34 years, Colleen, 8 children Litia, Vereniki, Jone, Brian, Mereula, Serevi, Kathryn and Maureen, and 8 grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at 5pm Thursday at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Metro Chapel, 190 N. Potomac, Aurora, Colorado 80011. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service at 11am on Friday, December 30th at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, 1095 Newark Street, Aurora, Colorado 80010.
Papa Naqica’s passing has left his family, especially his widow, Colleen Naqica, in some difficult financial straits. The club is asking for donations to help with final expenses for the family.
Donations can be made to Bank of the West under the account of Sitiveni and Colleen Naqica.
If you need more information about the account or how to donate, contact Jone Naqica at 415-846-6330 or Brian Naqica at 720-255-6045
