Barbos advance to the USA Rugby Men’s National Club Championship

The Denver Barbarians Rugby Club’s 7s squad will travel to San Francisco to vie for the USA Rugby Men’s Club Championship to be held August 13 – 15, 2010.

The Barbarians qualify for the championship playoffs based on winning the Dallas 7s and Denver 7s Rugby tournaments.  The Barbos finished second in the Kansas City Blues 7s tournament.  Each of the tournaments serve as a Western Club 7s Super Regional Qualifier.

This marks the tenth consecutive year that the Barbos have made the National Championship playoffs and 17 of the last 25 years that the Barbos have been to the National playoffs.

Members of the squad include:  Mark Bokhoven, Phil Bolton, Maximo de Achaval, Ben Haapapuro, Taylor Howden, Ross Kantor, Drew Legge, Tyson Meek, Scott Murphy, Garrett Peterson, Dewon Reed, Matt Trenary, Tom Hewitt, Ross Kantor, Jody Kramer, Dan Murphy and Scott Murphy.

Steve Laporta, a former member of the USA Rugby team, the Eagles, coaches the team.  Howard Kent is assistant coach and manager of the squad.
